A DAY AT CORNER

We are open Monday through Friday, from 8am to 5pm.  We offer both a full day and a part day option (pick-up by 1pm), as well as both a full or part week option of 2-5 days per week. We follow the Ithaca city School District (ICSD) calendar, closing for their break weeks and snow days, and are closed on all legal holidays.  

The monthly rates for the 2008/2009 school year are:

Parents are always welcomed into the classroom, even unannounced. There are family pot-luck dinners twice a year, a wintertime “Corner of the Pie” party and a springtime outdoor parent work day.

There is a routine to the day at Corner of the Sky. One activity always follows the next in the same pattern but the extent of each activity varies from day to day. For instance, the amount of outside time depends on the weather, the amount of time for body movements depends on the energy level of the children and the amount of art studio time depends on the interest level of each individual child. Rather than the teachers directing all the lessons, the children share in the making of the day. Challenging skills and meaningful learning are promoted through teacher engagement with children’s play. Our large group discussions integrate issues of social justice, model mindfulness of self and others, and promote cooperative learning.
